CONDITION of PLAY / QUALIFYING TOURNAMENTS

1. ELIGIBILITY   

The Southern, Mid and Northern Qualifying Tournaments are open to all male and female golfers, who are mainland Chinese and the International Qualifying Tournament hosted in Sanya Luhuitou GC is open to all golfers worldwide who are non – mainland Chinese AND WHO

1)     Are not otherwise qualified for the Volvo China Open from the 19th – 22nd April 2012, AND

2)     Are professional golfers, who are qualified as such through the China Golf Association or who are members of another recognized PGA, OR

3)     Have a USGA Men’s Handicap Index of 3.0 or less (or a USGA Ladies Handicap Index of 1.0 or less) as issued by any recognized Golf Association, recognized provincial or city golf association or recognized golf club. 

2. FORMAT

      Gross stroke play over 36holes.

3. VENUE AND SCHEDULE

4. FIELD

Maximum number of players in the Qualifying Tournaments is 480. Maximum field at eachvenue is 120.

5. CUT AFTER 1st ROUND

Players who finish the 1st round 15 strokes or more than the leading 1st round score will not compete in the 2nd round

6. TEES

All competitors (male and female) will play from the same tees assigned at each venue.

7. RULES OF GOLF

Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf of the R&A Rules Limited, as well the Chinese version published by China Golf Association, and the Local Rules of the host Club as set by the Tournament Committee. These Local Rules will be made available to players at the starting tee orteesof each course.

8. QUALIFICATION TO THE VOLVO CHINA OPEN 2012

Twelve players will qualify for the Volvo China Open. They will consist of the threeleading gross scores from eachvenue.  

9. DECISION ON TIES

In the case of a tie at a venue for a place in the VolvoChina Open, this will be decided by sudden death play off immediately after the36holes.

10. PRIZE

Wewill allocate US$20,000 (Rmb126,000) to prize money for each venue except the International venue which will have US$10,000 prize money.

The leading amateur at each qualifying event will receive a trophy.

11. CADDIES

The rules of each venue are that caddies are mandatory. They are available for hire from each venue but players may also bring their own caddie. No buggies are permitted but caddies may use pull trolleys if they are available.

12. SUSPENSION OF PLAY

If it is not possible to achieve 18 holes during the 1st day at any of the Qualifying Tournaments, play may continue the following day. If play is not possible on the following day then that particular Qualifying Tournament will be rescheduled.

13. REMARKS

Should a player who qualifies for the Volvo China Open notify the Tournament Committee that he or she is unable to participate then the place will be offered to the next in line (first alternate) of the leading scores from that venue. Should there have been a tie among those scores designated as first alternate, then the leading score to qualify will be decided on a count back over the last 9 holes and last 6, last 3, last 1 hole if deemed necessary. Should the first alternate not be able to participate further then the spot will be offered to the second alternate on the same basis or until an alternate is found who can participate in the Volvo China Open

THE DECISION OF THE VOLVO CHINA OPENCOMMITTEE IN ALL MATTERS WILL BE FINAL.
